West Valley Fire Rescue (WVFR) is the largest fire district in Lewis and Clark County. Covering approximately 1,100 square miles, serving 20,000 residents, West Valley receives 1,000 emergency calls per year. Consolidation between Lewis & Clark County Fire District and WVFR occured in 2021, and we now cover areas North, South, and West of the City of Helena. Currently the District is experiencing a population growth rate of approximately 1.5%, and a call volume growth of 15% year to year. As an “all-hazards” fire department, WVFR responds to structure fires, wildland fires, motor vehicle accidents, hazmat incidents, and medical emergencies. This 40-volunteer member agency dedicates thousands of hours of training and response time to their community while balancing full time employment and home life.
